We’d love to see you on the mat.

We are currently accepting new students. No prior martial arts experience needed. If you’ve ever wanted to try a martial art but were nervous about that first class, you are welcome to come out and watch a class for free. Still not sure? Bring a friend!

Before coming out (or when you arrive) you should complete a Registration Form and Waiver (for all members, prospective members, non-members attending workshops, basically anyone participating.)

Schedule

Thursdays: 6 – 7:30pm (beginner/mixed)
Saturdays: 12:30 – 2pm (beginner/mixed)

  • Beginner/mixed classes are appropriate for everyone–from first-day students to long-time practicioners.
  • Advanced classes are appropriate for experienced students who have a solid foundation of ukemi.

Free trial class

Visitors are welcome. You can watch a class any time. If you want to try it out before signing up, you can try a class at no cost! Just complete the waiver form before getting on the mat.

Membership

Your membership pays our rent and dojo expenses.

  • Solo Membership: $70/month. Membership for one.
  • Duo Membership: $120/month. Membership for two people in the same household.
  • Household Membership: $170/month. Membership for three or more people in the same household.
  • Community Membership: An alternative flexible rate approved by the Board. Requires a brief application and annual renewal in January. See details and apply here.

How do I pay for my membership?

You can set up a recurring membership payment through Zeffy (our online payment provider) using a credit or debit card. Cancel any time. This makes it easy for everyone.

You can also make a one-time, non-recurring, monthly payment through Zeffy at this link. Scroll to the bottom and enter the appropriate monthly membership amount in the “Monthly Membership (single month)” box.

Visiting for less than a month? Just pay a mat fee.

Pay a mat fee: $15/class, or $5/class for Mid-South Aikido members. You can also pay a mat fee on a per-class basis. This is a great option for visitors. Pay at the beginning of class, Cash, check, Zeffy (credit/debit card) PayPal or Venmo.

What about testing fees and other costs? The AWA charges an annual membership fee of $30, payable in January or when you take your first AWA test. All tests for kyu ranks are $25 each. You can pay your annual dues and testing fees online. Other than that, you should expect to buy a gi (training uniform) that can cost around $30 for a basic starter to well over $100 for a custom model from Japan. Many people like to purchase their own wooden training weapons, and prices for those vary widely according to quality.
