We’d love to see you on the mat.

We are currently accepting new students. No prior martial arts experience needed. If you’ve ever wanted to try a martial art but were nervous about that first class, you are welcome to come out and watch a class for free. Still not sure? Bring a friend!

Before coming out (or when you arrive) you should complete a Registration Form and Waiver (for all members, prospective members, non-members attending workshops, basically anyone participating.)

Schedule

Tuesdays: 6 – 7:30pm (beginner/mixed)
Saturdays: 10:30am – noon (beginner/mixed)

  • Beginner/mixed classes are appropriate for everyone–from first-day students to long-time practicioners.
  • Advanced classes are appropriate for experienced students who have a solid foundation of ukemi.

Visiting for less than a month? Just pay a mat fee.

Pay a mat fee: $15/class, or $5/class for Mid-South Aikido members. You can also pay a mat fee on a per-class basis. This is a great option for visitors. Pay at the beginning of class, PayPal or Venmo.

What about testing fees and other costs? The AWA charges an annual membership fee of $30, payable in January or when you take your first AWA test. All tests for kyu ranks are $25 each. Other than that, you should expect to buy a gi (training uniform) that can cost around $30 for a basic starter to well over $100 for a custom model from Japan. Many people like to purchase their own wooden training weapons, and prices for those vary widely according to quality.
