Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art that was developed in the 20th century by Morehei Ueshiba. Ueshiba, also called O-Sensei (great teacher), developed Aikido from older arts including jujutsu and assorted sword and staff arts. The word “ai-ki-do” loosely translates to the way (do) of harmony (ai) with energy (ki).
Moerushin Dojo translates as “burning heart” dojo. We train in an atmosphere of intensity and compassion. We are a satellite of Mid-South Aikido in Memphis and a member dojo of the Aikido World Alliance.
Arlington Fitness is located at 11925 Hwy 70 in Arlington, TN.

About Maclin Sensei
Ted Maclin holds a 4th degree black belt (Yondan) and has practiced aikido since 1989. He has trained in Memphis, Brooklyn, and Knoxville and continues to learn and develop both his practice and his teaching. He sees aikido as both a martial art and as a means of personal and social transformation. When he is not on the mat, he teaches Anthropology at the University of Memphis. He also enjoys spending time with his family on their farm near Mason, TN, cooking, and playing music.
Inclusivity
We are committed to the inclusion and support of all members regardless of race, color, age, culture, ability, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliation, veteran status, citizenship, or socioeconomic status. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination or harassment of any kind. We take feedback seriously, and any given will remain confidential.
Like aikido, non-discrimination is a practice. It includes building awareness of welcoming language, and working to reduce physical, social, and economic barriers.
Budo begins and ends with rei (respect/courtesy/gratitude).
